FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you treat back and neck pain using the McKenzie Method?

Yes. Troy is certified in the McKenzie Method (MDT), an evidence-based system that uses specific movement testing to find your “directional preference” and relieve pain from issues like sciatica, disc problems, and neck pain. You’ll learn targeted exercises and self-care techniques so the relief lasts long after therapy.

What makes your approach different from other physical therapists?

Our treatment style is results-driven, personal, and efficient.

Certified Back Specialist: Expertise in spine and joint pain using the McKenzie Method.

One-on-one care: You always work directly with your physical therapist — no hand-offs to techs.

Faster recovery: Clear, goal-based plans and measurable progress every visit.

Modern technology: Red light laser therapy can accelerate tissue healing by up to 43%.

Empowerment: We teach you how to manage your condition independently.

What can I expect during my first physical therapy session?

Your therapist will review your history, assess posture and movement, and perform McKenzie-style tests to pinpoint the source of your pain. You’ll start treatment right away and leave with a personalized home plan. Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes.

How long will my physical therapy treatments take?

Most visits are 30–45 minutes, one to two times per week. Many patients notice improvement within the first few sessions, but total treatment time depends on your condition and goals.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to start physical therapy?

In most cases, you can begin physical therapy without a doctor’s referral (called “direct access”). Some insurance plans may require one, and we’re happy to verify your coverage before you start.

What should I wear to my physical therapy appointments?

Wear comfortable, loose clothing and shoes that allow movement. If we’re treating a specific area like the shoulder or knee, bring a tank top or shorts so we can assess and treat effectively.

Will my insurance cover physical therapy services?

We work with most major insurance plans, and our team can verify your benefits before your first visit. We also accept HSA/FSA payments and offer simple self-pay options if you prefer.

How can I track my progress during physical therapy?

We set measurable goals at your first visit and track them using pain scales, movement tests, and functional benchmarks. You’ll review progress with your therapist each session so you can see your improvement clearly.

Mark S.

I was unable to move from lying down to an upright position without severe pain in my lower back. After one day of treatment, I was up and walking freely. By day three my overall ability was nothing more than miraculous. I fully trust Troy since I injured my back 17 years ago and had not been back to see him because I did what he told me to do on a daily basis. They are awesome!
